FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

HOW DO YOU SET YOUR POSTS?

We use treated pine 4x4s set in concrete (dry packed) for all wooden fences. Depending on gate sizing and location in fence, 4x6s or 6x6s are used.

DO YOU INSTALL VINYL FENCES?

No, but we'd be happy to recommend you to some companies that can help.

DO YOU USE SCREWS OR NAILS TO HANG YOUR BOARDS?

We use high quality hot-dipped galvanized, ring shank nails. We use 3-1/4" nails for stringers and 2" nails for pickets. Galvanized nails are rated for use in treated wood, and resist streaking.

DO I NEED A PERMIT FOR MY NEW FENCE?

It depends. If you're within the city of Columbus you do not need a permit for most fences. Most surrounding towns and neighborhoods do require permits. We regularly pull permits for our customers and are happy to help.

I HAVE AN EXISTING FENCE. CAN YOU REMOVE IT?

Yes. We remove and dispose of all fence types.

I HAVE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES NEAR MY FENCE. IS THAT AN ISSUE?

We're not permitted to dig within 24" of marked utilities. Generally fence desings can be tweaked slightly to miss utilities, but holes that are required to dug by hand will increase labor costs.

WHICH SIDE OF THE FENCE FACES OUTWARD?

Traditionally, the finished picket side of the fence faces outwards towards your neighbors. The city of Columbus allows for either direction. Most surrounding towns and neighborhoods require the pickets to face outwards.
